3 Equal Parts –revised blurs the distinctions between art and design. Part sculpture, part chair, the work was conceived almost as an academic exercise in which the viewer is left to choose the relationship and combination between the three L-shaped pieces. As often in Sachs’ work, this work is an ode to freedom.

Rolf Sachs is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer based in Rome. He applies his distinctive, mostly conceptual approach, across a multitude of mediums, ranging fromsculpture, painting, designand photography through to architectural projects and set designs for opera and ballet.Sachs challenges preconceived applications of materials, processes and everyday objects, imbuing them with novel meaning. Deftly employing humourand wit, his work seeks to elicit emotional, sensory reactions. His work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Museum for Applied Art, Cologne, the MAK, Vienna, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice.
